ONE & PART
TWO & PART
THREE The Logan House "Mom..i'm
really sorry, says Rick to Brooke. After all that happened, I just want to spend Christmas
alone, away from all this. I have told Amber and she agreed to spend Christmas with her
friends back home." " I understand what you're going through and I won't stop
you, says Brooke. Just promise me you won't do anything irrational. Promise me,
Rick." " I
promise, mom, Thank You." " Where
will you go, asks Brooke." " Dad
bought me a ticket to Paris, he said maybe Katie and I could spend Christmas with grandma.
I really would like a change. We'll be leaving tomorrow." "
Tomorrow....but that's Christmas eve...have you packed...how are you going to the airport?
...Does your grandma know you're coming..." "Mom,..slow down, take it easy, Dad
arranged everything. He's taking us to the airport. He and Lauren are going to Vegas and
Bridget is going with them. She's really excited about it. Now it's just you I'm worried
about. You're going to be all alone.. will you be o.k." asks Rick. " Now don't
worry about me..I'll be fine, You both just enjoy yourselves and take care...o.k."
Brooke hugs Rick. Bridget comes
down the stairs with her bag and hugs Brooke. " I love
you Mom..Merry Christmas...and take care," says Bridget. " I love you too, honey
."says Brooke. "Bye
mom,"..call out Rick and Bridget as they climb into the limo waiting to take them to
their dads place. Brooke is
all alone now and is feeling lonely. She decides to go to Big Bear and spend Christmas
there. The Forrester House "
WHAT..You can't be serious, you're going to Europe tomorrow," shouts Ridge. "
Doc..please.. tell me you're
not serious." "I 'm sorry sweetheart, says Taylor I know the timing is bad but
Pierce and I just got the news ourselves, I have to take Thomas with me though as I'm
still feeding him." " What
about Christmas? What about me? I 'll have to be all alone."says Ridge. " Ridge, I
wish this didn't happen but the conference is tomorrow and I really have to go..I worked
hard in this project and I'm eager to see it get recognition. Please understand,"
pleads Taylor . " I don't
like the idea of Pierce going with you but I love you and I won't stand in the way of your
career. I'll miss you though," says Ridge. " I'll miss
you too sweetheart," says Taylor. They share a
very long kiss. Ridge then kisses Thomas and hands him over to Taylor. Thomas and
Taylor both get into a cab which will take them to the airport. Ridge
stands alone in the porch. The sun is setting and he is feeling as gloomy as the weather.
He decides to go to Big Bear to be all alone for some rest and relaxation. The
next day (24th December 1998) 8.00a.m. The road leading to Big Bear. The
weather slightly snowing. Brooke is
driving her grey BMW. The weather is getting quite bad. She pulls on her black ski cap and
ear muffs. The heater in the car suddenly stops and she is feeling very chilly. She
adjusts the collar of her mint green turtleneck sweater and prays that she will make it to
Big Bear before it starts snowing. Suddenly,
out of nowhere a motorcycle zips by. Brooke turns the steering wheel in panic. The car
skids and crashes into some trees. Her heart is thumping madly and she is terribly
frightened. She feels all over herself to see if any bones are broken or if there is any
injury anywhere. A loud thumping sound is heard near her window and she screams in fright.
The snow is getting more heavier and visibility is very poor. She can make out a figure
outside her window.....It's a man and he is wearing a helmet. "
Hey...you in there, are you all right...open the door." shouts the man. " I
can't ..it's stuck," answers Brooke. She quickly rolls down the window and tries to
climb out. Muttering a
swear, the man reaches in and grabs her by the arms. He pulls her out but the impact of
her push and his pulling causes them both to fall backwards and roll down the small slope
behind them. Both of them slip and slide down that slope with the man trying his best to
cushion her fall. Finally they land with him on top of her. The man
pulls off his helmet and Brooke takes of her ski cap, which practically covered her face
when she rolled down the slope. They look at each other and exclaim loudly. "Logan
...What the hell are you doing here". " Ridge..I...I..didn't know it was
you." " Are you
o.k.? Are you hurt?" asks Ridge. " No..no..i'm fine..just shocked, that's all.
Could you kindly get off me so I can get up..you're squashing me and I can't
breathe," gasps Brooke. " Sorry," says Ridge. He scrambles up and hold out
his hand to Brooke. He helps her up
and they both look at each other in surprise. " What are you doing up here in this
weather," asks Ridge. "It's practically turning into a blizzard and you're
driving in a steep area." yells Ridge. " I was just trying to get to Big Bear
when you suddenly came out of the blue and forced me out of the road," says Brooke. "
Well shouting at each other won't get us anywhere and neither will our vehicles,
"says Ridge. " Oh no .. is your bike as badly damaged as my car," asks
Brooke. "Not exactly, but my bike is in a drain somewhere and your car is wedged
between two trees, we have to make it on foot to Big Bear before we freeze to death,"
explains Ridge. " Come on ... Logan, we have to hurry, the weather is getting worse.
We'll take what ever we can from the car trunk and walk the two miles to Big Bear,"
says Ridge. One hour later It is snowing
heavily and the path is slippery. Ridge is walking in front of Brooke and he suddenly
stops. Brooke collides with Ridge's backpack, slips and falls. She yelps in pain and Ridge
turns around startled. "
What's the matter? Are you alright?" says Ridge. " Couldn't you have warned me
that you were going to stop .. I think I hurt my ankle tumbling down just now," says
Brooke. " Here ...
let me see," says Ridge. He puts down his backpack and kneels down in front of
Brooke. Ridge rolls up the hem of Brooke's pant and touches her ankle. " Ouch...
That hurts," says Brooke. " Looks to me that you've sprained it," says
Ridge. " Great ...
Just Great ... now how are we ever going to get up to Big Bear before the blizzard. We're
going to freeze to death and no one is going to find us," cries Brooke. " Logan ..
will you quit whining and listen to me.. we're not going to die ..you hear me. Now calm down.
The cabin is just a half hour away and I think we will be able to make it there in one
piece," says Ridge. " How are you going to do that? I can't walk. Please don't
leave here alone Ridge..please.." cries Brooke. Ridge
grabs Brooke 's shoulder and gives her a shake. " Listen to me Brooke... I'm not
leaving you..." He leans forward and gives a hug. Then he slings her arm around his
shoulder and helps her stand. " What are you doing," says Brooke as she watches
Ridge lift his backpack and place it on Brooke's back. " You carry the backpack and
I'll carry you," says Ridge grinning. " Are you nuts? But ..but..how..."
stammers Brooke. " Enough
said. Now be a good girl and when I kneel, you climb up on my back. I'll piggy back you
all the way to the cabin," explains Ridge. " This is
insane," says Brooke. "Quit stalling Logan and get on my back. The weather is
getting from bad to worse and we have to get to the cabin fast," says Ridge. Brooke slowly
climbs on Ridge's back. " Now wrap those nice long legs around my waist so I have
some thing to hold on to," orders Ridge. Brooke does as told and she wraps her arms
around Ridge's neck. Her chest is pressed against Ridge's back and she can feel his
muscles move. After a little
while Brooke, relaxed against Ridge's back and quite enjoyed the ride considering the
events of the day. " I'm beginning to like this," says Brooke as she rested her
head against Ridge's and smelt the cologne he was wearing. It was the cologne she had
bought for him when she first started dating Ridge and since then he never wore any other
kind. " Well don't get too comfortable. Big Bear is just ahead," says Ridge. " Besides
my back is killing me," groaned Ridge. " Don't worry, I 'll massage it for you
later..You know how good I am with my hands," says Brooke with a small laugh. "
Hmmm...I'll take your word for it...Well here we are," says Ridge as he helped Brooke
down. " Oh...I never thought I'll be seeing this place again," said Brooke
happily. END OF PART ONE " Brooke ,
I think you better go inside and try to start the fire going. I'll look for more firewood,
the weather is getting worse and before we get snowed in , I better get more wood,"
says Ridge. " Sure, but could you get me a long stick so I can walk around a bit, I
don't want to put a lot of pressure on my ankle," says Brooke. Ridge quickly
looks around and finds a long willow branch. " Here.. use this. I think it's strong
enough to hold you."says Ridge. " Thanks
...You better not stay out here too long. It's freezing, so get the wood and hurry back
o.k."replies Brooke. Ridge goes off to look for more wood. Brooke enters
the cabin. It's very dark and cold. She goes over to the fire place and quickly starts the
fire going. Then she limps over to the kitchen area to see if there is any food in the
freezer. She takes out two cans of soup and puts them on the table. Her ankle is really
hurting her so she slowly hobbles over to the couch. At that moment,
Ridge comes in with an armload of wood and pinecones. He sets them beside the fireplace.
He notices how pale Brooke is. " Go sit down. I'll handle everything here."says
Ridge. " Thanks, Ridge. I'll just go and lie down on the couch." says Brooke. Brooke settled
herself down on the couch and makes herself comfortable. She is so tired that she
struggles to take of her boots. " Here, let me help you." says Ridge. He slowly
removes her boots. Ridge pulls the side table in front of Brooke so she can prop up her
leg. He looks at her ankle and notices how swollen it has become so he quickly gets up to
heat up some water and get some bandages. Ridge brings a
pan of hot water over and a towel. He cleans her foot and bandages it up tightly. "
Am I hurting you" asks Ridge. He looks at Brooke and sees that she is fast asleep.
Her beautiful pale face shows how tired she is. Ridge just looks at Brooke and sighs. He
tucks some cushions behind her. Then he gently removes her ski cap and gloves. He slowly
pulls of her heavy jacket. Brooke stirs a little but she doesn't awaken. Ridge retrieves a
blanket from one of the cupboards and covers Brooke. Her golden hair is like a beautiful
cloud around her face. She looks so childlike and vulnerable in sleep. He pushes a wisp
of hair from her forehead and presses a light kiss there. As Brooke
sleeps, Ridge quickly adds more pinecones to the fire so the cabin smells nicer instead of
musty. He takes of his boots, jacket and gloves and makes himself more comfortable. Then
he unpacks their supplies and decides to heat up the soup since it's nearly lunchtime and
moreover he hadn't eaten anything for breakfast. One hour later The smell of
coffee brewing and hot chicken soup cooking wakes Brooke up. "Mmm..
what's that wonderful smell."asks Brooke sleepily. She pushes the blanket off and
sits up. " What time is it?" she asks. " Time you woke up,
sleepyhead." replied Ridge. " I'm sorry I slept. I was just too exhausted to do
anything , I should have helped you ."says Brooke. " Never mind about that, are
you hungry? It's almost two o'clock in the afternoon. I'll just get you some soup while
you freshen up. There's hot water in the basin by the fire."says Ridge. "
Thanks, Ridge."replies Brooke. She gets up, wraps the blanket around her and slowly
makes her way to the bedroom. In the bedroom,
she quickly removes her sweater and pants and replaces them with a soft pink woollen
jersey and matching pants. That's when she realises that her foot is carefully bandaged.
Moreover, her other clothes are all neatly arranged beside the dresser. She quickly
brushes her hair and pulls on a pair of thick white socks before leaving the room. Ridge is by the
fireplace drinking a cup of coffee. His back is towards her so he doesn't notice her
coming into the room. He goes to stand near the big windows and watches the snow falling
outside. The expression on his face was so far of and dreamy, almost sad. Brooke notices
all this and approaches him from behind. He turns around abruptly and almost collided with
her. The coffee in his spills a little on his hand. " Logan...Don't go creeping up on
a person like that. Do you want another accident to happen?" shouts Ridge. "
Well excuse me, I was just standing there when you suddenly turned" says Brooke.
" I guess we can call it even. I'm sorry about your ankle. I didn't mean for you to
sprain it."says Ridge. " It wasn't your fault, I should have looked where I was
going. Is that why you took care of me so well, I noticed you bandaged my ankle and made
me more comfortable on the couch when I fell asleep just now?" asks Brooke. "
No..i saw that you were tired out and in pain. I didn't do it because I had to but because
I wanted to, now come on ... let get something to eat. I'm starving."replies Ridge.
" So am I" says Brooke. I'm starving for you says Brooke silently. " What are
we having for lunch?"asks Brooke. " I just heated up some soup and made us some
sandwiches. Nothing fancy really. There's wine and also coffee."says Ridge. "
I'm so hungry I'll eat anything. Tomorrow, I'll make us something special. After all it'll
be Christmas."says Brooke with a smile on her face. They both eat in silence. Each
lost in their own thoughts. Brooke thinking about Ridge and how they will be spending
Christmas together and Ridge thinking about Taylor and Thomas. After
lunch, they both settled down on the couch to relax and talk. " I never did get an
answer about what you were doing up here."says Ridge. " It's a long
story."says Brooke with a sigh. " Well...let's hear it then. We're not going
anywhere."says Ridge. Brooke looks up at Ridge and sees a certain sadness in his
eyes. " I'll tell you mine but you also have to tell me your side of the story and
what you're doing up here."demands Brooke. "Fine.."says
Ridge. " Rick and Katie just left for Paris yesterday and Bridget is spending
Christmas with Eric and Lauren in Vegas. I just came up here to spend Christmas. You
know.. The last time I came here was when Bridget was born. You were here with me then
too."says Brooke. " Well I didn't know you'd be here. Taylor and Thomas are in
Europe with Pierce for a conference so I thought I'd come up here and work on some
designs."replies Ridge. "Looks like it's just you and me again all
alone."says Brooke with a smile on her face. Ridge catches her expression and says,
" You're forgetting something Logan..I'm a married man. So you can wipe off that
smile on your face because nothing's going to happen with us." Brooke replies
with a small laugh, " When did being married ever stop us from being together? I seem
to recall the time we spent together in the lab when we were working on 'BeLieF'."
" That was in the past..I wouldn't do that to you again, so stop thinking about it
and you go about doing your work. I have some sketches to work on so just leave me
alone."says Ridge getting up from the couch. The entire
afternoon was spent with Ridge seated at the dining table working on his designs. Brooke
leafed through some magazines then decided to see what was available for dinner. The
freezer was stocked with meat and there was lots of canned food. She decided to make
something simple for dinner, as the meat in the freezer needed to be thawed. A few hours later. "
Ridge...aren't you going to eat anything. It getting late" says Brooke. " Sorry
Logan..I was too caught up in work to think about anything."said Ridge. He stood up
and stretched. " These are beautiful."says Brooke looking at some of Ridge's
sketches. "Thank You..now come on let's eat something. I'm hungry."says Ridge. After dinner,
they washed up and began to prepare for bed. Ridge added more wood to the fire and the
whole cabin was sweet smelling and quite warm. Ridge suddenly looked up and gazed into
Brooke 's eyes. "What's the matter."asked Brooke softly. "Logan....There's
only one room in this cabin and only one bed."said Ridge. End Of Part Two Brooke turns
around looking startled. Ridge's tone of voice clearly stated that sharing a bed was not
on his list or on his mind. Not wanting to ask any more questions, Brooke replied, "
I'll sleep on the couch." "No..I will sleep on the couch, you're tired and
you're in pain, so you sleep on the bed."said Ridge. " Ridge, I'm fine
the couch is more my size than yours, besides I'm really too tired to argue about this any
longer. Just hand me a pillow and a blanket and I'll be fine."replied Brooke. "
Ok but if you can't sleep and your ankle starts to hurt, just wake me up and we'll switch
places. Is that agreed?"asked Ridge. "Yes Ridge.
Could we quit talking and just go to sleep?" says Brooke as she slowly makes her way
to the couch and starts to tidy it up. Ridge glances at Brooke and notes the tired look on
her face. He makes his way to the bedroom and snatches a pillow and a blanket from the
bed. He then went
back to the front room and handed the items to Brooke. Ridge added more logs in the fire
and stirs it a little. " Sure you'll be all right here."asks Ridge. " I'll
be fine,''says Brooke as she snuggles down on the couch. " Well
Goodnight Logan,
" says Ridge. "Sleep well." He heads back into the bedroom and tries to
sleep. Feeling restless, he decides to work on some sketches. A few hours
later. Brooke wakes up.
She feels cold so she tosses the blanket over her shoulder and walks over to the
fireplace. She adds on a few more logs and pine cones to the fire. Not feeling sleepy
anymore, Brooke wraps the blanket around her and sits on the rug facing the fire. She
thinks back at all that happened in her life. Her thoughts are on Rick and Bridget. She
wonders if she did a good job on bringing them up or did she leave them when they needed
her most. A silent tear slips down her cheek. She gazes into the fire and her eyes are
full of tears. Feeling cold and all alone, she rests her head on her knees and pulls the
blanket closer around herself. In the bedroom,
Ridge hears a soft sound and wakes up to investigate. He moves to the bedroom door and
glances out. He notices Brooke sitting in front of the fire, her back facing him.
Wondering why she wasn't asleep, he approaches her silently. "Logan, are
you feeling well," asks Ridge. Startled, Brooke turns around. The blanket falls off
her shoulder. Ridge notices her wet cheeks and red eyes when she turns around. "Ridge..you
frightened me.What are you doing up at this hour?" asks Brooke quickly wiping her
face with the back of her hand. " I was
about to ask you the same thing. What's wrong Logan?" asks Ridge as he picks up the
blanket and secures it around Brooke's shoulders. " Don't tell me nothing is wrong
and that you're fine."said Ridge. He cups her face and wipes her tears with his
thumb. Gazing into his eyes and looking at the warmth there, the dam holding all her tears
breaks and starts pouring down her cheeks. Ridge wraps his arms around her and holds her
as she cries. He rests his chin atop her head and pulls her face to his chest, all the
while murmuring soothing words and rubbing her back with his other hand. The sound of her
sobs tears into his heart and makes him wonder what it is that made Brooke so sad until
she cried like this. He had never seen her this way for a long while and thought of her as
a very strong willed and determined person. But seeing her this way suddenly made him
realise that underneath that tough exterior there was a very sad woman who needed to be
comforted and held. He felt her tears wet the front of his shirt but instead he pulled her
closer and held her until her sobs subsided. Very gently,
Ridge put his hand under Brooke's chin and lifted her face so it touched his. He pushed
away a soft lock of hair that fell on her forehead and pressed a light kiss there. Brooke
opened her eyes and looked at Ridge. Ridge looked down at Brooke and gazes at her tear
filled eyes. He puts his hand on both her cheeks and with the pad of his thumb, he wipes
away all the tears on her face. He puts his arms around her and pulls her closer. "I'm
sorry," murmured Brooke. "Don't be. You needed to cry and let out what's
bothering you. I'm just glad I was here to help you through it ." said Ridge.
"Now wait here till I get back." Getting up slowly, Ridge walks to the kitchen
area and gets a small face towel. He wets it thoroughly and then rinses it out. Grabbing a
blanket from his bedroom, Ridge quickly makes his way back to the fireplace. Kneeling down
in front of Brooke, he wraps the blanket around himself and her and pulls her closer to
him. Then he presses the wash cloth on her damp cheeks. "Logan,
will you tell me what's bothering you?" asks Ridge softly. He gently turns Brooke so
she is facing him. Sensing her hesitation, he again cupped her face with his hand and
raised her face to meet his gaze. "You know you can tell me anything. We have known
each other for years. Don't you trust me to share your problems."said Ridge in a
gentle tone. " It's just that
"stammers Brooke. "What
..Logan"asked Ridge softly. " It's just
that suddenly I feel so lonely."said Brooke in a very soft whisper. "
Lonely..But how can you feel lonely. You have Rick and Bridget who depend on you and love
you. Besides, you have Eric and me to help you in any way."said Ridge surprised at
what Brooke just confessed. " I
I ..don't know. Lately I just feel that I have
let them down. Now Rick is getting ready to be a father and Bridget doesn't seem to need
me much. I don't know if I can cope with this. I have no one to turn to or just to tell my
problems."said Brooke in a sad voice. "Now you
listen to me Logan.. you are a wonderful mother to both Rick and Bridget. You have given
them almost anything they need. You just don't give yourself enough credit."said
Ridge gently shaking Brooke's shoulder." You are not alone in this matter. You did
nothing wrong in raising your kids. Rick knows good from bad and he is taking this matter
like a real man should. Logan ..You should be proud of him. I'm not saying what he did was
right, but what he is doing to make things right. He is a good child and so is Bridget.
They need you more now then ever. " said Ridge. Looking up at
him, another silent tear slips down her cheek. "Logan, I want you remember this. You
are not alone. You have Eric and me to help you. If you ever need someone to talk to..I'll
be there for you. I'll always be there for you."says Ridge. "Ohh..Ridge..you
don't know how good it feels to hear you say that."says Brooke with a sob. Ridge
looks at Brooke and gently places a kiss on her lips. They both gaze at each other and
strange sensations begin in their body. Very gently, Ridge lowered Brooke down on the rug.
Since she did not hesitate or question his moves, he again captured her lips and kissed
her. Brooke responded to his kiss and put her arms around his neck pulling him closer to
her. " Logan
I don't think
begins Ridge but Brooke cuts him off by placing
a finger against his mouth and said, "Please
Ridge
Just this once, don't
think. Just do what your heart wants you to do." After a slight hesitation, Ridge
wraps the blanket closer around Brooke. Then he hooked one arm under her shoulder and the
other beneath her knees. Ridge carried
Brooke into the bedroom and gently lowered her onto the bed. Looking at her, he asked,
"Logan
Are you sure about this?" For a reply, Brooke puts her hand on his
chest and starts to unbutton his shirt. Ridge pulls her into his arms and slowly pushes
her back onto the pillow. Their lovemaking
was slow and unhurried. Each savouring every moment of their time together this way.
Knowing that every minute was precious and was to be remembered. As the fire in
the living room crackled, these two souls met and mated as if they were meant for each
other. They made love well into the night until the wee hours of the morning. Totally
spent and exhausted, they fell asleep, holding one another close. A few hours
later. Ridge woke up
feeling refreshed and gazed down at Brooke. In sleep she looked so vulnerable and child
like. He felt as if he had to protect her and keep her safe from all harm. He gently
pulled the big comforter around them, as the air was rather chilly. Brooke's head was on
his chest and her legs were entwined with his. He felt her stir suddenly. Looking down at
her, her put his finger under her chin and lifted her face to meet his. Ridge gently
kissed her lips. Opening her eyes, Brooke smiled sleepily at the man she always loved.
"Mmm
What a wonderful way to wake up?" murmured Brooke. "What time
is it ?"asked Brooke with a small yawn." It's only five in the morning, still
very early. Why don't you go back to sleep?" said Ridge. "It's rather cold this
morning, Ridge got out of
bed and slipped on a robe. He made his way to the fireplace and threw more logs in the
fire. The weather outside was still bad. The blizzard had stopped but now it was snowing
heavily and the pathway was filled with snow. Ridge knew that there was no way they will
be leaving the cabin today. It looked like they were going to be spending another day
together. His mind raced
back to Taylor. They were married but he had slept with Brooke without a single hesitation
and without thinking about his wife and son Thomas. Lately, he and Taylor had a lot of
disagreements about her working for Pierce. And the day before yesterday, she just left
him and went with Pierce, without even giving him a second thought. Ridge was beginning to
have doubts. He had known Brooke longer than Taylor and he had loved her. In fact after
last night, he realised that he still loved Brooke and cared very much for her. He never
doubted Brooke's love for him but now he doubted his own wife's love for him. Ridge
decided that he and Brooke have to talk about what happened between them. He made his way
slowly back into the bedroom. Their clothes were strewn all over the place in careless
abandon. Brooke was already asleep when he climbed into bed. After seeing her shivering
slightly, he pulled her against him and she curled into a comfortable position. Feeling
rather sleepy himself, he again arranged the comforter closely around themselves. They
could talk later, since they had the whole day to themselves. Besides he had to find out
certain answers himself thought Ridge as he drifted back to sleep. When Brooke
awoke a few hours later, she found herself alone in bed. Ridge was no where to be seen but
the room was warm and cosy. The smell of coffee brewing reached her nose and her stomach
rumbled, as she felt quite hungry. Slipping on a warm bathrobe, she left the room in
search of Ridge. She found him sitting at the breakfast nook, a cup of coffee in his hand.
He was gazing out the window and did not hear her coming into the room. Sensing that
something was bothering him, she slowly approached him and put her hand on his shoulder.
Turning around, he smiled at her." Well
Good Morning, Would you like some
coffee?'', asked Ridge. "I'd love some
I am feeling rather hungry ,"
answered Brooke. When Ridge stood up, Brooke leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek.
" Merry Christmas, Ridge,"said Brooke with a smile." Same to you, Logan. I
had forgotten all about Christmas."said Ridge smiling down at her. " Lets get
something to eat first. Looks like we'll be spending Christmas here. The roads are still
blocked and the blizzard has stopped, it is still snowing heavily. We shouldn't leave the
cabin."said Ridge as he poured Brooke a cup of coffee. Rummaging about in the
freezer, Brooke turned around and stared at Ridge. "Why would we be leaving the
cabin. I came up here to spend Christmas and now that you're here, we can celebrate it
together."said Brooke. "I just
thought
.Well never mind, do you need some help?"asked Ridge changing the
subject abruptly and walking over towards Brooke. Noticing the
quick change of subject, Brooke noted it down and decided to pursue it later. "Could you
just light the stove while I make us some bacon and eggs?"said Brooke.
"Sure",said Ridge as he walked over to the stove and did what Brooke told him to
do. While Brooke was
beating the eggs and frying the bacon, Ridge went about setting the table. A little later,
they both sat down and ate breakfast together, enjoying food. After clearing up and
washing the breakfast things, Brooke headed off toward the bedroom to change into some
comfortable clothes. She decided to wear her pink sweater and white wool pants. Pulling on
a warm pair of stockings and after brushing her long blond hair, she decided to confront
Ridge about what was bothering him. Ridge was
standing by the front door when she walked into the room. " Ridge
Are you
alright," said Brooke as she approached him. " I'm fine Logan
We need to
talk."said Ridge taking her hand and pulling her towards the couch. As they settled
down, Ridge looked at Brooke with a strange expression on his face. "About last
night
"he said but Brooke stopped him by saying, "Ridge
Please don't
say you're sorry about last night. Please don't take that memory away from me."pleads
Brooke. " Last night should never have happened, but you know what Logan
The
worse part is, I enjoyed being together with you last night. So much so that I completely
erased the fact that I have a wife and child depending on me. I forgot everything when I
was in your arms Logan."said Ridge looking at Brooke. " Ridge
last night, I
asked you to follow your heart and that is what you did. We both know that there is still
something in us that draws us both together. You can't deny that fact."said Brooke.
" I need to know, Ridge
do you still love me."asked Brooke softly. Ridge looked at
her and saw that there were tears in her eyes. " Logan
I can't deny that fact. I
still love you. I care about you a lot but there are so many things in my life that I also
can't deny. I am married to Taylor and I love Thomas."said Ridge. "You said you
love Thomas
What about Taylor? Do you love her too? Asked Brooke as tears flowed down
her cheeks. Her voice was so tight that she could barely get the words out. Ridge looked
at Brooke with a painful expression. " Logan
Things haven't been very good
between us but that doesn't mean I should simply leave her and Thomas. You know
something
I really don't know what to think anymore."said Ridge. " There
has to be some sort of explanation as to what happened last night, but for now, that's all
I can offer you Logan. I don't want to hurt you or Taylor."said Ridge as he wiped
Brooke's tears with his hand. "Ridge
I'm not pushing you into anything. I know
you better then anyone else. I'm not asking
you for anything but please don't give up on us."said Brooke as she holds Ridge's
hand against her wet cheeks. " I'm not
giving up on us Logan. I need time to think this thing over. Would you give me that?asks
Ridge as he takes both Brooke's hands into his own and clasps then tightly. "Yes
Ridge
"said Brooke. Ridge pulls Brooke into his arms as they embrace. He then
turns her face to meet his. He pushes a lock of hair on her forehead and places a soft
kiss there. " Ridge
"says Brooke. "Since we're both here, could we
just take advantage and make this a memorable Christmas together."asks Brooke as she
smiles at Ridge through her tears." Sure we could, Logan."replies Ridge as he
smiles back at her. "What do you feel like doing? We have the whole day together and
the nights" said Ridge with a cheeky smile. Brooke laughed happily. " I think
I'm getting cabin fever from being in here for so long. Why don't we go out and play in
snow for a bit. I know you like rolling about in the snow with me."said Brooke as she
got up from the couch. " Logan
You couldn't have said it better."said
Ridge as he chased her into the bedroom to get ready. A few days
later. Brooke is
sitting in her office thinking about how wonderful her Christmas was. She recalled how
much fun they had in the snow having a snow ball fight and how she won by pinning Ridge to
the ground and covering him in snow. Later that day, they both enjoyed taking a hot bath
together and playing in the tub like small kids. Ridge had wrapped her up in a warm towel
and carried her into the bedroom where he wiped her dry, dusted her body with her
favourite talcum powder and then made slow, sweet love to her all through the afternoon.
They made lunch together and in the evening they wrapped themselves up in a warm blanket
and sat down in front of the fireplace to discuss about work and other matters. The nights had
been so wonderful with Ridge. They had stayed there for two more nights until the snow
cleared and then they packed up to go home. That few days were the best days she had ever
spent with Ridge and how she treasured it. Today, seated in
the office she couldn't concentrate, as she was so happy. The kids were due back tomorrow,
as they were going to spend the New Year together with her and Eric. Life just couldn't be
better. There was a
knock on the door. "Come
in."called Brooke. Her secretary entered with a small package wrapped in gold paper.
"These came for you ."she said as she handed Brooke the package. "Thank
You."said Brooke as she sat down at her table to open it. As her secretary left,
Brooke opened the little package and read the card. It said: Roses
Are Red, Saffires Are Blue,
These Are From Me,
Just For You. It was signed by
Ridge Forrester. Brooke opened
the box that was in the package. Inside was a beautiful pair of glittering saffire
earrings. THE END (Please send
