another Get Smart meets the Bold And The Beautiful story today.Now here are the players
for our story:
Now friends let's go to our story called "Indoor
Fireworks". Let us have some fun. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rick Forrester Agent 86 of CONTROL is heading to a
park bench in a park in Washington on a clear but warm day.He is to meet with an informant
who will clue him in on aspects of a new case he will be working on. He gets to the bench
and sits by a nicely dressed young man.The man and agent 86 move closer together.The way
agent 86 will be able to find out if this is the right person he needs to speak to right
now will be to speak with a code.Rick Forrester will say a quotation from the 1st
President of the United States ,George Washington, and the informant will say a quotation
from the 6th President. They will both alternate saying quotations from the
1st,6th,12th,18th,24th,30th,36th, and 42nd Presidents of the United States,Washington,John
Quincy Adams,Taylor,Grant,Cleveland,Coolidge, Lyndon Johnson and the current President
Mr.Clinton. Agent 86:"To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of
presering peace. Informant:"This is the last of the earth,I am content." Agent
86:"Which I this day swear to preserve ,protect, and defend."
Informant:"Let us have peace." Agent 86:"It is a condition which confronts
us,not a theory." Informant:"The business of America is business." Agent
86:"To build a great society ,a place where the meaning of man's life matches the
marvels of man's labors." Informant:"Let me say this one last time,I did have
sex with that woman,Ms Lewinsky." "So you're the guy I 'm supposed to meet
today." "That is correct,nice to see you again 86." "Same here, what
have you got for me." "A very important item to the sercuity of the United
States is wanted by KAOS." "The most important places in Washington are going to
have to be protected for the crime will happen in one of these places and on the 4th of
July." "Is there anymore CONTROL should know at the moment?" "You will
have a brief meeting with a Doctor Tell tommorow,and he should a few things about KAOS he
used to work for them." "Why then is he with CONTROL now" "The CONTROL
medical plan covers relatives where the KAOS medical plan didn't." "For being a
free agent it was a smart move." "Not bad,but he could be a risk working
formerly for KAOS and all?" "No,once Dr. Tell,tells you what you need then
everybody you will meet on this case is a suspect,it would be good to keep an open mind on
everything in this case." "Well I want to thank you once again for your help in
this case,it is greatly appreciated." "Thank you 86." "Are you going
to stay in Washington for the 4th of July?" "No I have another
job,I'm working as a advisor for a soap opera that has some storyline concerning the spy
business." "Soap opera and the spy business?" "Well you know what the
old saying 86,truth is stranger than fiction." "Yes but soap operas are stranger
than truth." "Tell me about it,but then again at 100 dollars a day ,I'll try
it." The two secret agents part company as Rick Forrester starts on a very special
case. We now come to the office of the Chief of CONTROL who
has headphones on listening to some rock music that he easily has a hard time
appeciating.Rick Forrester Agent 86 comes in his office and sees him with the headphones
on. Rick turns the volume dial up by mistake surprising and startling his boss."What
did you do that for 86?" "Well I had to get your attention ,you seemed so
enthralled in the music you were listening to,let me see what you were lisening to."
"Wow Chief you have the lastest CD from Fireside,when did you get interested in
Fireside?" "I am not interesed in Fireside 86,I just am trying to find out what
could be the link to them and KAOS." "In their music?" "Chief if
Fireside and KAOS are up to no good maybe you should get what they used to use a record
and put it on a record player and play it backwards." "I don't think it is so
simple as that 86." Agent 99 comes into the office and sees the cd of the rock group
and is bemused to say the least."Hello Rick ,good morning Chief." "Is that
the lastest cd of Fireside that you are listening to Chief?" "Really 99 it's not
what you think." "I hope not,I take it your style is more suited for WOTR the
big bands stations,the stations that plays swing and standards,they don't play Fireside on
WOTR Chief." "The Chief thinks KAOS and Fireside have something in common
99." "Oh really like what?" "These lurid songs they have on their
previous albums and their new one ,they don't need KAOS do they Chief?" "It will
all be explained when Dr. Tell gets here 99." "He will be here in a few minutes
Chief" ,says Agent 73 who comes into the Chief's office with Agent 13 at her
side.Agent 13 also notices the Fireside cd."Who has been listening to Fireside
here?" "Is it you Chief,the head of CONTROL is a fan of Fireside?" "I
am not a fan of this Fireside group and I do not listen to their music secretly at
home." "So you listen to it at work right?" "No 73 I don't listen to
Fireside as entertainment thank God not for relaxation." "No KAOS and Fireside
are somehow linked in someway." "Let me guess,they are going to hold a concert
at a special place and only KAOS agents are invited?" "Not quite 13 but your
close to the mark with something there." "It cannot be through some of their
rancid songs like "Sex All Day" and "Liqours and Narcotics" could it
Chief I mean KAOS doesn't need to corrupt American youth,its' already been done and
without Fireside's help." "No, corruption of youth is not seen as a objective of
KAOS here 99." "Then what are they after Chief ,if it isn't the youth of
America?" "Maybe the babyboomers of America 86,I mean if the Chief of CONTROL
can listen to the music of Fireside then." "All right all right Agents 13,73 ,86
,and 99 let me introduce to you Dr.Tell a specialist in counter intelligence for
CONTROL." "Doctor you have worked with KAOS before what are they up to here with
this case?" "Thank you Chief,first of all the Chief has been getting CDs of this
group called Fireside ,here at CONTROL headquarters for over seven months now."
"The perpetrator of all this is called the Pyromanic,an agent for KAOS who
specializes in pyrotechnics,the making of and use of fireworks." "Now the
Pyromanic is a specialist in indoor fireworks and uses them in crimes for KAOS."
"What is Fireside's role in all this?" "Agent 99 every time this band has a
concert in some location anywhere,the Pyromanic sends out messages,goading the authorites
really.""Then the Pyromanic commits his crime stealing something for KAOS."
"So they are just unlucky to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?"
"Maybe Agent 13 but we have another problem." "During all these crimes
another individual who is involved in fireworks happens to be in town." "A Jerry
"Flash Light is an pyrotenic specialist too he holds big firework shows all over the
country indoors and outdoors." "Now all we want to know is who is working for
KAOS here someone in the rock band or Jerry Light?" "I have read that Fireside
will hold a concert at the Mall this 4th of July while a big fireworks show hosted by
Jerry "Flash" Light will also be at the Mall." "Yes Agent 73 both once
again will be performing at the same time,with KAOS and the Pyromanic pose a new threat to
national security." "Now wait KAOS is either using someone in the band or this
fireworks expert while they do their business elsewhere,am I correct Dr.Tell?"
"Yes Agent 99 that's right." "What are the messages like Dr.Tell?"
"The messages always center around the plot KAOS is planning." "Here is the
message CONTROL got lately from the Pyromanic." "MY FINAL WIN AGAINST
DISTINGUISH ACTING CAPACITY IS FANTASTIC.MY DARK DISPUTANT DARLING ,I INDICT FBI AND CIA
WITH FURY. DISTRICTS IN ALL PARTS SHALL DISPLAY PANIC AS MY LIGHT WILL BURN ALL."
"My goodness what a stilted message." "Maybe so 99 but that message and
others have been given to me as such for seven months now." "Doctor Tell ,I want
to thank you for your help on this matter today." "You are quite welcome
sir." "Chief ,the informant I met yesterday said that all the possible important
places in Washington are would-be targets for attack by the Pyromanic so what's the
plan?" "Agents 13 and 73 will go to the White House and work with the Secret
Service a keep on alert for any strange activity." "Rick you and 99 are going to
pose as reporters and speak to the members of Fireside and Jerry "Flash" Light
." "We are going to the concert Chief?" "No 99 you both are to the
Hall Of Sounds Music Store at the Georgetown Mall ,both Fireside and Jerry
"Flash" Light will be there." "The group will sign autographs and
Mr.Light will show a fireworks display indoors of course." "We are on our way
Chief." "Hey Chief." "Yes Rick." "Do you want us to bring
you a autograph of one of the members of Fireside? " "No 86 I told you I don't
listen to that kind of music." "Okay Chief" "Chief." "Yes
86." "Do any of those CD's you got from the Pyromanic contain Fireside Greatest
Hits Vol 1 you see my cousin is a big fan of their's and if you're not busy with those
CD's?" "RICK,,please will you get going."The Chief is a little exasperated
as he has something he does not want.A troublesome new threat to national security,cds he
doesn't want ,and Agent 86 making the job much harder as it already is. Agent 86 and Agent 99 are at the Halls of Sounds
music store posing as reporters for a college newspaper.The two agents mingle though a
large crowd that has already showed up at the Georgetown Mall music store.They first seek
out the store owner. "Well 86 what do you think ,how are we supposed to get near this
rock group with so many people here." "Just a little arm twisting, some
politicing 99 after all this is Washington ,and you can't get the water until you turn on
the faucet." "I believe I see their road manager talking to the store manager
,let's go talk to her." Agents 86 and 99 move over to the road manager of Fireside as
she ends her conversation with the store manager.Agent 99 steps up to her."Hi I'm
Ashley Lynn this is Jacob Bell and we are from the Geogetown Rumble a campus magazine and
we would like to have a little interview with the band if possible." "Campus
reporters well all right all right." "Come on in and I'll let you speak to the
leader of Fireside,Tommy Starr." "My name is May Day Ms.Lynn and we are happy
with the response we're getting today." "I'm sure you are Ms. Day the crowd is
fantastic." "Can we speak to the other guys Ms Day? " "Well Mr.Bell
you know rock musicians 2:00 P.M. this is kind of early for them by their standards
although we were lucky to get the guys to get up for this autograph session."
"Do not worry Tommy's quite a character he'll give you what you want." May Day
knocks on the door and out comes Tommy Starr a fellow about 6' 2" who has hair as
long as Agent 99.Not that the agents haven't noticed."This is riduculous his hair is
almost as long as yours 99." " I only hope he doesn't ask for my comb 86 so keep
yours free and available." "I wonder if he'll ask you about what conditioner you
use?" 99 looks at 86 with an disparaging look. "Just kidding 99." The rock
star is introduced to the supposed campus reporters by the road manager."Mister Starr
you must be happy with the success of your tour so far." "Well man I think that
as long as people just want a good time we'll give it to them." "I hear that you
wanted a different name for the band than Fireside,is that true?" "Well young
lady you see I got into an accident with the stove and almost burned my house down long
ago." "My parents hated me ever since and I hated them too and ran away."
"I have had a thing about fire for the longest I hate it." "It kills
people,it hurts them,it hurt me." "I was in a band called "Glamour
Rags" until I met up with Old Lady Day here." "She got me to face up to my
fear of fire and helped set up Fireside as it is today." "Today we are more
popular than ever and I can stand up to fire now." "You know what my greatest
dream is now that we or I have made a comeback, what I really want to do?" "I
want to be on VH1's Behind The Music,I feel the band or at least me should be on the
show." "Hey they have put on Ted Nugent,Leif Garrett, Grand Funk Railroad."
"Hey I think we deserve a shot ,I have a good story to tell don't you think?"
The road manager pulls 86 and 99 away from the rock star and tells him to wait in the
store manager's office."He has had a bitter childhood and aduthood believe me."
"He actually wanted to call the band Krypton after the home of Superman."
"That was a favorite hero of his childhood." "I myself liked Marvel Comics
personally,the Fantastic Four in particular." "Well the show will begin in a few
minutes so why don't you both wait out front?" "Thank you Ms Day." Agents
86 and 99 suddenly bumped into Jerry "Flash"Light who is setting up his small
indoor fireworks show up front."Reporters from Georgetown eh well what do you want to
know?" "Well Mr. Light do you think fireworks are safe?" "Just look at
what you just said fire works." "Fire is a friend to people,it supported them in
early times." "It was used for comfort,light,defense,cooking,and religion."
"When fire is used properly it can be used for transportation,medicine,communication,
and entertainment." "Only when fire is used in the wrong way can it become
harmful and hurt people." "Fire is alive and needs oxygen just like everything
else in this world that is living anyway." "Abuse something and you shall have
tragedy.""Treat things of the environment with respect and the wonders of our
world can be seen." "Now I know I am a little long winded but fireworks is my
life and I want to show everybody here that my way." "It is just about 2:00 will
have to get started." "Maybe I can talk to you later" "Of
course." "One last question Mr.Light where did you get that nickname?"
"I always slept with a flashlight at my bed when I was a kid,and my parents gave me
the nickname Flash since our last name is Light." Mister Light moves away from the
duo and prepares for the show. Back at CONTROL headquarters,The Chief and Agents 86
and 99 go over the show at the music store."Did you both learn anything there, get
any clues" asks the Chief? "Tommy Starr is a strange man and has a lot of hair
and Jerry Light gives a great indoor firework show." "I was expecting more than
that even from you 99,how about you 86?" "I may have something Chief"
"The informant told me to keep an open mind on this case,so this is a risky hunch
but." "But what 86?" Agents 13 and 73 come into the Chief's
office."Everything is set up at the White House Chief." "Thank you
13." "Chief I know I'm a little forward here but can I take a look at those
Fireside cds you have?" "I have a cousin who is a big fan of their's and."
"Go ahead 73." "Here it is the CD from last year "Exosphere".
"Chief wait we may something have here." "What's that 86?" "Let
me take a look at the message you got from the Pyromanic especially the last one."
"Of course look 99 all the messages follow the same pattern." "I see what
you mean 86 none of the messages has an e,x.or o in it," "But what does
Exosphere bring us?" "Exosphere Agent 13 is an top secret spaceplane that can
fly at 60,000 miles per hour ,it is flown via computer." "You see the plane can
reach the exosphere the closest to the earth's atmosphere to outer space." "It
has a great laser beam that can shot from the sky ,the potential for destruction from it
is limitless." "I get it Chief nothing will be able to reach
"Exosphere"because of its' abilities,it will the gretaest fighter plane in
history." "Flown without people,and now the target of KAOS." "Agents
86 and 99 come with me here is what we will do." Later that night,we go to the
Pentagon, the headquarters for the defense of the United States.And in a restroom near a
top secret off limits area in the Pentagon a large laser beam cuts through the floor and a
group of people come up the from the hole and climb out.Dressed in grey spacesuits with
small holes in them the four interlopers move into the off limits area. They are told to
stop and guns are raised at them .But then they raise their guns and out comes flame.On
top of that the suits they are wearing burst into flame and every Pentagon employees
present run away as fast as they can.The Pyromanic now comes out and the Pyromanic's suit
burst into flames .The five flaming criminals now use their laser beams to burn the steel
door and break it wide open so they can what they want ,the plans for the Exosphere
spaceplane. But as they move forward four people in non combustible and heat resistantant
fireproof grey spacesuits move up to them."All right Pyromanic here's where it all
ends." "Oh not with my laser beams it won't so stand aside or get burned."
One of the guards that came out of the safe throws a bomb that once it explodes causes the
uniforms and guns of the Pyromanic and the others to degrade and degenerate. Suddenly the
sprinker system turns on and the water that falls the army of the Pyromanic creates suds
and suds of foam all over the place. The helmet of the Pyromanic is taken off only to find
an embrassed May Day caught in the act."Well Ms.Day it looks like KAOS can't win them
all ,it won't win this one." "How did CONTROL find me out or how did CONTROL get
so lucky?" "Your tip about liking the Fantastic Four and of course having the
Human Torch as one of it's heroes made us wonder." "KAOS was clever to use
Fireside and Jerry "Flash " Light and have them scheduled at the same time at
the same city,thus having us think they had something to do with the crimes of the
Pyromanic." "You were clever to schedule them the way you did being their road
manager." "Jerry Light is a loser." "With his knowledge about fire he
could have been rich beyond his wildest dreams." "What he does know lady will
make him richer more than you'll ever believe." "So." "It what you
don't know that will make you a whole lot poorer."Agents 86 and 99 along with agents
13 and 73 subdued the Pyromanic and close the books on KAOS and its special brand of
fireworks. Jerry "Flash" Light 's fantastic fireworks
can be seen even from the Pentagon as it is one the biggest fireworks shows
ever."Look Rick we can see the fireworks display from here." "That's right
99 to bad we're so far away ,I would like a better glismpe of things." "How
about some real fireworks 86, the indoor kind?" "Is this the kind where only two
people can see?" "Yes." "Sure,you're on." "We can watch this
public display of outdoor fireworks,then watch our very own,indoors." "It's free
too." "The best kind 99." The End
